 Immensely valiant, ambitious and visionary, Charles-Marie de La Condamine, Nicolas Bodin and Jean-François de La Pérouse set out at the King’s behest to seek new challenges for themselves and their contemporaries, discover new horizons and forge new paths. They made possible what seemed impossible, inspiring generations to follow. In tribute to such illustrious figures in French history, Parfums de Marly explores olfactory memories of the period when pepper, cinnamon and ginger were introduced to the French court. Such rare ingredients bear witness to 18th-century luxury, in notes that since have become essential to modern Haute Parfumerie.

 MOVEMENT BECOMES A FRAGRANCE TRAIL

 With Castley, Parfums de Marly revisits the olfactory family of woody-spicy citrus. Invigorating, luminous top notes of fresh ginger, bergamot and citrus (lemon petitgrain) create a powerful sensation of freshness that quickly cedes to deeper, spicy, mineral heart notes, notably that of Timut pepper. Noble base notes of amber, labdanum and AkigalawoodTM gives the fragrance trail a signature that is at once mysterious and refined. Castley is a meticulous blend of the finest ingredients that strikes a sophisticated balance between freshness and sensuality, transparency and mystery, presence and discretion. FOCUS ON... TIMUT PEPPER ABSOLUTE

 Renowned in gastronomic circles, this ingredient has only been used in perfumery for a few years. It comes from zanthoxylum, a berry belonging to the Sichuan pepper family. This new botanical species comes from a natural source in Nepal, where it is harvested yearly from September to October. Timut pepper absolute is extracted using volatile solvents - one of the most noble methods of obtaining the finest raw ingredients. Its fragrance presents a subtle contrast of tart pink grapefruit and a peppery explosion with the fruity, floral sweetness of freesia.
